problem
The existing Skaletek dashboard required a comprehensive redesign. While functional, it fell short in both visual appeal and usability when compared to competing compliance platforms.
Key issues included:
Inconsistent and unclear status representations
Friction when viewing action details and drilling into records
A dated interface that did not reflect the sophistication of the underlying technology

A refined, industry-standard compliance dashboard that balances clarity, usability, and visual polish. The redesign follows established UX patterns common to leading RegTech tools, ensuring the platform remains intuitive for both compliance experts and non-technical users.
Design process
Research & Discovery
Redesigning Skaletek required a deep understanding of both the existing product and the RegTech/compliance domain—a highly specialized space.
The process began with:
A thorough audit of Skaletek’s current features and workflows
Hands-on exploration of competitor platforms to understand industry standards
Reviewing compliance and fraud-monitoring resources to build domain context
Collaborative sessions with the founders helped surface business goals, technical constraints, and long-term vision. This shared understanding shaped key design decisions throughout the project.
One critical insight from this phase was that separate detail views offered better clarity than the existing table-expansion pattern, particularly for complex records and actions.
As foundational UI decisions became clearer, focus shifted more heavily toward refining the overall UX.
Wireframing
Insights from research and brainstorming were translated into low-fidelity sketches and wireframes. This phase focused on high-impact areas of the platform, including:
Dashboards and key metrics
Rule management and configuration flows
Improving the layout and usability of the rule builder
Multiple rule-builder iterations were explored and reviewed collaboratively, resulting in a structure that balanced flexibility with ease of use.
High-Fidelity Design
During the high-fidelity phase, reusable components were built to ensure consistency and scalability across the platform. Strict adherence to Skaletek’s brand colors and design guidelines helped maintain a cohesive visual identity.
Additional iterations occurred at this stage as designs were validated through regular feedback sessions, ensuring design goals and usability standards were met from the outset.
